Tywree has been creating art since she could hold a pencil but only began to teach herself to paint in 2019. Her work has been exhibited in various locations across the United States, including the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, Alabama, and the Detroit Historical Museum in Detroit, Michigan. A native of Michigan, Tywree has been creating art for four years and is known for her acrylic paintings, which predominantly feature black women and their families.
As a black woman and wife, and mother of three, Tywree has a strong connection to her subject matter and a deep appreciation for the beauty and strength of her community. Through her art, she seeks to inspire and uplift others, using her work as a source of inspiration and hope. " I want my art to challenge perceptions and stereotypes of black life. I want people to see the wholeness of our blackness, our beauty, and our humanity."

I primarily focus on creating artwork using acrylics, although I have also ventured into the realm of sculpting. Lately, I've been broadening my creative horizons by delving into the world of watercolor painting and collage art.
From a young age, I was captivated by art and the ability to express oneself through drawings. As a child, I used to believe that all adults possessed an inherent talent for drawing, a notion that was quickly dispelled when I noticed their creations were often limited to simplistic stick figures. This realization spurred my own journey in learning to draw and ultimately fueled my passion for art.
One of my most influential inspirations was the television show "Good Times". It was through this program that I encountered, for the first time, the depiction of Black individuals in fine art created by the renowned artist Ernie Barnes. The beauty and authenticity of these representations deeply resonated with me, providing a refreshing contrast to the often-stereotyped images presented elsewhere. The richness of Black life was depicted with such dignity and grace, a reflection of the beauty inherent in my own community. This sparked a profound appreciation for the portrayal of Black life in art and a desire to express this beauty through my own work.
